This is an open invitation to tender T24/10 – Request for Tender for Skate Rink Roof Replacement for Broken Hill City Council. Tenderers will be required to demonstrate in their Tender that they have the necessary resources, skills, experience, financial capacity, insurances, licences and accreditations etc, to fulfil the Tender requirements.

The Skate Rink is a vital community recreational asset, providing space for skating, sports training, and local events. Located within the historically significant Memorial Oval, the Skate Rink contributes to the site's rich history, which is closely linked to the heritage of Broken Hill. The facility is utilised by diverse age groups and serves as an important venue for training, practice, and competitions, fostering community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles. Its continued operation and upkeep are essential for preserving this valuable recreational resource.

The existing roof of the Skate Rink sustained significant damage during the 2016 hailstorm. Despite this damage, a full roof replacement was not undertaken, resulting in ongoing deterioration and persistent leaks. To mitigate the risk of structural damage, a comprehensive roof replacement is now planned. This project encompasses the removal of the existing damaged roofing and installation of a new, compliant roof. Furthermore, the project scope includes the installation of new gutters and downpipes for the skate rink building to effectively manage rainwater runoff and minimise water exposure to the roof, thereby contributing to its long-term preservation. To further minimise water runoff onto the skate rink roof, new gutters and downpipes will also be installed on the building side of the adjacent George Atkins Pavilion.
