The Department of Education uses the Planning Analytics (TM1) platform to monitor financial performance, ensure accurate budgets and forecasts; and assist in the departmental reporting to assist with the department’s decision making.

There are two TM1 databases:

BMS (Budget Management System) – BMS is the Internal Departmental Budgeting and Reporting System is used to perform tasks such as profiling internal budgets, undertake forecasts, monthly reporting, and variance analysis. This platform is intended for finance staff (finance business partner, project finance manager or finance officer) as well as staff in the wider business who have the role of cost centre manager.

FIN_ADM is the internal administered budgeting and reporting system where the finance business partners perform monthly reporting. This platform is currently intended for finance staff (finance business partner, project finance manager or finance officer) only.

There are two platforms available for BMS and FIN_ADM:

Web: Web is hosted on the Planning Analytics (TM1) platform and runs in a web browser on a local computer. This web platform allows users to undertake profiling of internal budgets, forecasts, monthly reporting, and variance analysis as well as the ability to extract financial information for analysis from both TM1 databases.
