Tender Description

Introduction

The Council of the City of Sydney (the City) invites Requests for Tender for the purposes of completing and supporting the supply of Library Radio Frequency ID (RFID) equipment, peripherals, new technologies, support, and services for the Library RFID Refresh Project in accordance with this request.

Background

In 2016, the City procured an RFID solution to scan and control library assets (such as books, CDs, videos, and games) during the borrowing and return process. The solution was deployed to 11 library locations across the City. The purchase included an initial 5-year warranty and support service with multiple 1-year extensions.

The existing RFID equipment deployed in 2016 is approaching the end of its life, and support from the current manufacturer ends in June 2025.

The RFID hardware that services our libraries today, on average, scans over 1,900,000 assets per year.

Project Overview

The City is seeking to replace the City RFID solution (library chutes, return shelves, loans kiosks, inventory tools, security gates, etc) that scans assets such as books, CD,s and other assets for the community to borrow and return,n and add new technologies as part of this project delivery.

To do this, the City will:

1. Procure and implement a new RFID hardware solution to replace the existing solution at the City's Library locations;
2. Install library chutes technology at 10 locations; and
3. Install new 24x7 book locker technology at a specified location, collectively, the Library RFID Refresh.
