Project goals

Narrandera Fisheries Centre produces 2 million native fingerlings annually and mitigates losses to birds using various control methods. Installation of protective netting will significantly decrease bird predation; equating to increased production outputs, reduction in stress, injuries/mortalities on surviving fish caused by birds, mitigation of risk regarding use of other control methods.

Scope

Design, supply and installation of 3.8 hectares of overhead bird protection netting, including walls and integration of four (4) access gates (mesh or open areas)

Carry out the Works in accordance with the following:

1. Structure to be minimum 4.0m high

2. Galvanised support poles – 80/100nb, appropriate footings

3. 35mm or equivalent roof netting and walls secured at 90 degrees against the perimeter

4. Appropriately sized wire and cabling for proposed spans and tension

In addition to the above:

a. Tenderers must provide windspeed rating (km/hr) and hail loading (kg/m2) for netting structure design

b. Tenderer to indicate applicable warranties (company, factory or OEM)

c. Tenderers must include evidence of public liability insurance and workers compensation (if applicable)

d. Tenderers must provide evidence of three (3) recent netting projects of similar size and complexity within their tender application
