As part of our ongoing commitment to the Watercare Water Efficiency Plan 2021–2025, Watercare is expanding the rollout of smart meters to both residential and commercial customers. Our aim is to reach as many households as possible to help customers better understand and manage their water use. Since 2022, we’ve installed more than 65,000 smart meters—making this one of the largest deployments of its kind in Australasia.

Watercare is seeking suppliers capable of delivering approximately 100,000 20mm diameter Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) ultrasonic smart meters over the next 3 to 5 years. In addition, we are looking for suppliers who can manufacture batch quantities of 25mm and 32mm ultrasonic smart meters that meet our specific technical and performance requirements. These meters may be supplied by the same provider as the 20mm meters or by a separate supplier.
