Trove Story Project

The National Library of Australia (the Library) operates Trove to provide discovery and access to cultural collections in both physical and digital formats. Millions of Trove end users visit and engage with these collections every month.

To build a stronger relationship with Trove audiences, the Library intends to conduct a research and engagement activity to understand how people are using Trove. Trove is built using a Drupal content management system.

The purpose of this project is to design a qualitative research activity supported by an engaging communication strategy, and to build a means to collect contributions from Trove users and present them in an interactive digital display on the Trove website.

The Library is looking to hire a contractor to:

• Develop an engaging qualitative research question that can be combined with a number of identified demographics to form a short research form.
• Develop a web submission form with the research questions for user contributions to be collected on Trove and accessible to identified Library staff. It should include the option to upload an image or share a Trove link.
• Develop an accessible interactive display for user contributions that can be displayed on Trove. It should be able to display the images and thumbnail representations of Trove links.
• Test the submission form and display to ensure functionality.
• Develop a communication strategy to promote engagement and participation from end users in the research activity.
