Tender Description

ABOUT THE COUNCIL:

Stretching from Palm Beach to Manly, the Northern Beaches boasts more than half of all the beaches in Sydney and a population of more than 266,000. The Council is committed to maintaining a high level of customer service to the local community.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Northern Beaches Council (Council) invites tenders for the carrying out and completion of major works for Long Reef Boardwalk.

The works include; replacement of the existing boardwalk and bridge with an alternative design and alignment that will be less susceptible to the effects of tide and wave impacts.

The location of the works is along the southern side of Long Reef Headland, bound between the golf course and a small section of beach. The existing boardwalk is frequently used by the community and will be kept open for public use whilst the works are taking place.

The proposed boardwalk works include but is not limited to;

Establishment of the preferred construction access route as determined in the Tender Drawings and maintenance of all safety aspects of the route during the construction period including fencing provisions, widening where there are any narrow/pinch points, earthworks where required and additional provisions where the route interfaces with any water bodies or drainage lines.

Demolition of the existing wooden boardwalk and bridge, wooden piles and metal elements.

Recycling of all demolished materials where feasible and/or otherwise disposed of at a registered landfill site.

Earthworks including cutting of existing dune as depicted in the Tender Drawings. Stockpiling of cut materials for reuse at other required locations as depicted in the Tender Drawings (proposed new mound).

Installation and maintenance of required sediment and erosion control measures outlined in the Tender Drawings and implementation of the sediment control measures outlined in the Construction Environmental Management Plan by the Tenderer

Supply and installation of piles, bearers and joists as determined in the Tender Drawings

Supply and installation of steel structural elements and FRP decking as noted in Tender Drawings

Supply and installation of balustrading as noted in Tender Drawings

Construction of any temporary drainage measures as denoted in the Tender Drawings

Re-alignment of both existing men and women's golf tees 2m north with re-alignment to existing footpath

Supply and installation of landscaping requirements including provision of all native plants as outlined in the vegetated dune details and planting schedule as per Tender Drawings

Implementation of Traffic and Pedestrian Management Plan (as approved by Council) and adherence to safety controls

Maintenance regime as outlined in this Contract and the Technical Specifications document (Section 18)

SITE BRIEFING:

Site briefing and site inspection will be held on Wednesday 16th April 2025 at 10:00am, meeting at the Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club.

CLOSING DATE AND TIME:

Quotations close at 2:00pm AEST on 13th May 2025 and must be fully received by this time.
