Tender Description
The Tocumwal Barooga Flood Study (WMAwater, 2025) was recently finalised and adopted by the Berrigan Shire Council. The Tocumwal Barooga Flood Study now provides a detailed understanding of the existing and future riverine and major overland flow flood risk posed to the urban areas of Tocumwal and Barooga. In accordance with the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (DPE, 2023), the subsequent step in the flood risk management process (Figure 1) post a Flood Study is the preparation of a Flood Risk Management Study and Plan.
Therefore, the primary aim of the proposed project is to develop and adopt a Tocumwal Barooga Flood Risk Management Study and Plan. The Tocumwal Barooga Flood Risk Management Study and Plan will investigate and recommend options to mitigate the flood risks as defined by the Tocumwal Barooga Flood Study.
The final Tocumwal Barooga Flood Risk Management Study and Plan will provide Council with a comprehensive flood risk management plan to implement. The flood risk management plan is expected to prioritise a series of flood, response and property modification measures to reduce the existing and future flood risk on the communities of Tocumwal and Barooga.
The adoption and implementation of the Tocumwal Barooga FRMS&P will ensure Council are managing the flood risk to the community in accordance with the NSW FRM Manual.
