The Distribution Transformer RFP 2025 is a strategic initiative designed to source distribution transformers for use on the Essential Energy network as well as in response to the increasing demand for renewable energy and energy efficiency upgrades in Australia.

The procurement strategy is to source distribution transformers from suppliers with local support presence and in-region logistics capabilities, ensuring minimal lead times and the ability to maintain Vendor Held Stock (VHS) in the region.

Strategically, there is a preference for purchasing from suppliers who can offer regional support and logistics, thereby ensuring prompt delivery and effective supply chain risk management.

The objective is to establish long-term strategic relationships with suppliers, facilitating high quality transformers and value generation for all parties over the duration of the contract.
