Tender ID: 582951
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Department of Communities’ Aboriginal Community Connectors Program (The Connectors Program) aims to reduce the number of Aboriginal people who come into contact with the justice system, prevent crime and victimisation in Aboriginal communities, and ensure coordination with other community support and law enforcement services.
The Connectors Program is a place-based, non-coercive, community intervention and support initiative focused on improving personal and community safety. People accessing the services are often vulnerable, at-risk adults and youth, experiencing challenges in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), violence, and mental or physical health issues. The Connectors Program:
- Delivers essential community services by providing transport to a safe place, diversion from unsafe situations, referrals to complementary services, mediation or de-escalation where safe to intervene for people who are at risk of harm and assistance to community members to attend local events and activities in the regions.
- Is community-led and delivered by local Aboriginal organisations that employ local respected people in the community.
- Provides critical front-line services to clients with circumstances that include alcohol consumption, use of other drugs and substances, anti-social behaviour and mental health issues.
The Department of Communities invites Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to respond to this tender.
