Northern Territory Recreational Fishing Grants Scheme

Eligible not-for-profit organisations can apply for small grants of up to $15,000 or large grants up to $75,000 for projects that align with NTRFGS objectives.

The Northern Territory (NT) Recreational Fishing Grants Scheme (NTRFGS) recognises the social and economic value of recreational fishing.

The scheme offers grant funding for community projects that support and grow recreational fishing in the Territory.

Who can apply

To be considered for funding you must:

• be a Territory Enterprise
• be an incorporated body
• have no outstanding acquittals from a previous Territory recreational fishing grant fund
• be able to complete the project in 12 months.

Projects on private land with no public access won't be considered.

Who can't apply

All of the following are ineligible to apply for the grant:

• entities operating outside of the NT (such as national/peak organisations)
• unincorporated bodies (for example, individuals), unless as a partner to an incorporated body and the incorporated body is the primary project applicant
• ‘for-profit’ organisations who are not partnered with a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation
• Local Government Councils who are not partnered with a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation
• NT Government agencies (including government schools)
• universities
• projects on private land with no public access.

Before you apply

1. Familiarise yourself with the NT Recreational Fishing Development Plan and the Program Terms and Conditions

2. Prepare your supporting materials:

You will need:

• A project plan
• A communications/marketing plan
• Letters of support for the project from stakeholders and project partners
• Approvals to undertake the project, ie. access agreements for public access to private land
• Quotes for goods and services (at least three comparison quotes for any budget item over $2,500)
