Shoalhaven Material Recovery Facility - Pavement Works

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Council is in the process of establishing the Shoalhaven Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at its existing West Nowra Waste Management Precinct. This MRF is designed to receive mixed recyclables from the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions, initially capable of processing up to 24,000 tonnes per year. The facility aims to divert an additional 9,000 tonnes annually of recyclable materials away from landfills.

Council's ownership and operation of this state-of-the-art MRF will offer increased adaptability in response to the ever-evolving industry. The MRF will incorporate advanced technology, including optical sorters and AI, to ensure that recovered commodities meet or exceed market standards with less than 1% contamination. Moreover, it will generate job opportunities, reduce reliance on third-party services, lower recycling costs, enhance landfill diversion rates, and contribute to the transition toward a circular economy.

 PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Shoalhaven City Council is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and reputable company to undertake pavements works for the Shoalhaven Material Recovery facility. The project site requires all weather vehicular access via the installation of a number of pavement types.

The project scope is to be read in conjunction with the drawings and specification provided in the request for tender.

Scope:

o Access road upgrade:

    • Cut/fill base course. Note the base course was previously placed, but not to level.

    • Import and place base course. Only required if the existing material is rejected or short in quantity.

    • Excavate, haul, and place in stockpile excess base material. Only required if there was excess base material provided previously.
