Provision of Virtual Reality Development and Production Services for the WA Career Taster Program
Statement of Requirements
North Metropolitan TAFE (NMTAFE) on behalf of the Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) requires a suitably qualified contractor/s to develop and produce an agreed number of high-quality Virtual Reality (VR) interactive experiences that enables Year 9 students to explore Western Australian industries and associated jobs. The VR experiences must include simulated job tasks undertaken in industry workplaces so that students can actively engage with the experience and gain some understanding of the tasks undertaken in the profession. The Contractor, with the Customer, is required to liaise with Industry Training Councils in WA to gain an understanding of the workplace environment and specific job tasks, to inform the storyboard development, script writing, and voice over narratives.
The Contractor/s is required to have the expertise and experience in developing custom interactive VR experiences relevant to workplace job tasks.
The Customer reserves the right to award contracts to more than one (1) Supplier, if it represents better value for money and/or ensures that NMTAFE can meet its timelines.
Specification
(a) The Customer requires the production of high-quality VR interactive experiences that explore Western Australian industries and associated jobs, consisting of:
i. nine (9) nominated industry areas aligned with the Industry Training Councils of WA; with
ii. up to ten (10) nominated occupational job profiles per industry.
(b) Each industry VR experience is expected to be:
i. approximately five (5) minutes in length;
ii. run smoothly with minimal latency on the specified hardware to ensure a seamless user experience;
iii. linked to learning goals;
iv. the user interface should be intuitive and easy to use for both students and instructors;
v. language appropriate and suitably engaging for a Year 9 cohort;
vi. of high--resolution textures and detailed 3D models to create realistic environments that replicate industry workplaces;
vii. inclusive of interactive objects that students can manipulate;
viii. modules should be available with no internet connection required; content should be designed with the ability to accommodate users with diverse needs, such as audio and visual enhancements; and
ix. Meet accessibility standards WCAG 2.0.
(c) The VR content should for single virtual presence, and be in a format that is compatible with Oculus2 VR goggles.
