Tender Description

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters invites suitably qualified Civil landscape contractors who are experienced in the delivery of high quality public realm infrastructure to submit proposals for the George Street Upgrade.

The George Street Upgrade will form Stage 1 of the Implementation of The Parade Masterplan and will entail an integrated streetscape upgrade with the works forming the template of design elements, materials, finishes, urban furniture & elements, public lighting, stormwater drainage and green infrastructure which will be utilised as for the significant staged upgrade of The Parade between Fullarton Road and Portrush Road which has been identified in the Council’s Long Term Financial Plan and is planned to be delivered between 2026-2030.

The George Street Upgrade Project will be undertaken within a constrained environment that carries significant traffic, pedestrian, and cyclist movements, and has many businesses that rely on the streets within the precinct for passing and destination trade. A critical aspect of the works is the safe management of access to the facilities that service the businesses within The Parade Precinct including, Webbe, Harris and George Streets. Contractors with demonstrated experience in successfully completing projects to a high standard in this type of environment will be highly regarded.

Scope of Works:

The Works generally includes;

  • mobilisation and site establishment
  • demolition works
  • earthworks
  • enabling works at George Street / Beulah Road roundabout
  • installation of stormwater infrastructure including pipe, precast and insitu concrete pits, non return valves, pit covers and grates;
  • installation of common services trench, conduits, pits, mains switchboard and electrical infrastructure;
  • installation of public and feature lighting infrastructure;
  • kerb and gutter (including driveway crossovers) reconstruction;
  • footpath pavement construction on flexible and rigid bases;
  • installation of feature brickwork walls;
  • supply and installation of stainless steel urban furniture elements;
  • installation of tree planting (trees to be supplied by the Council);
  • installation of soft landscaping works including garden bed edging, soil, mulch and plants;
  • co-ordination of third party services relocations ./ adjustments within the works area (works procured by the Council)
  • installation of irrigation system
  • road pavement reconstruction
  • reinstatement of line marking and signage
  • all other miscellaneous works
  • provisional Items (where approved by the Principal)

The Works shall be carried out in accordance with the Principals Design, Specifications and other documents forming this Contract.

Tender Briefing and Site Visit - 28 March 2025

A briefing session will be held at 175 The Parade, NORWOOD, South Australia, Australia, 5067 on 10:00 am 28 March 2025.

Notes: Tender Briefing and Site Visit will be held at Mayors Parlour, Norwood Town Hall - 10am - Register at Customer Centre - duration 2 hours

A site visit is a pre-requisite to submission and consideration of a bid.

Attendance at the briefing is a pre-requisite to submission and consideration of a bid.
