EXTENT OF CONTRACT

The work to be carried out under this Contract comprises of the provision of design, documentation, specification, materials, plant and labour of whatever kind necessary for the complete and proper construction and placing in service of the works described hereinafter in accordance with this Specification, the accompanying drawings and subsequent explanatory details, to the entire satisfaction of the Superintendent and in accordance with the Specified Standard and General Specification.

The work in this specification includes, but is not restricted to the design, documentation and construction of the new bridge

• 5474 – Ashby Rd

The existing single lane bridge is to be replaced with a two-lane concrete bridge.

The works include, but are not necessarily limited to the following items:

• Investigation and inspection of the worksites

• Design, documentation and construction

• Submission, prior to construction, of Certificate of Design

• Submission, prior to construction, of Certificate of Design Check by an approved independent engineering firm

• Geotechnical investigation (if deemed necessary)

• Provision of all safety systems during the course of construction including temporary signs and traffic management

• Compliance with the principals safety requirements including all requirements of the document: “Occupational Health & Safety Requirements for Contractors of Northern Midlands Council”

• Set-out of the works

• Demolition, removal and disposal of existing structures and associated infrastructure

• Installation of new bridge permanent structures

• Reinstatement of bridge approaches

• Provision and removal on completion of any necessary temporary accesses

• Relocation of services as required

• Installation of safety fencing on bridge and approaches in compliance with all relevant Australian Standards

• Provision of bridge number and year of construction identification

• Clean up of site, including removal and proper disposal of all materials

• Provision of “As Constructed” documentation

Twelve months maintenance after Practical Completion

• Bridge construction standards and materials and workmanship incorporated in the works shall conform to standard specifications of the Tasmanian Department of State Growth’s Bridgework Specification or certification from a qualified engineer shall be provided. Where conflict exists between the DSG Bridgeworks Specifications and other standards referred to above then the Department's Specifications take precedence.
