Tender Description
The Student Assistance Schemes is a Northern Territory (NT) Government initiative to assist Geographically Isolated Students.
Please read carefully prior to beginning application!
The Student Assistance Schemes (the schemes) offer NT families some financial assistance for eligible geographically isolated students whose primary place of residence is the NT.
This includes families living remotely whose child or children are enrolled in distance education, travel a considerable distance for daily transport to and from school, or have a child(ren) who live away from home at a boarding school to attend school daily.

Before you apply
Prior to beginning your application, please review the conditions of these schemes and consider if you meet the eligibility criteria:

Mandatory for all applicants:
- be permanent residents of the NT and maintaining a primary residence in a geographically isolated location
- provide address and contact details
- provide a current driver's licence (or other proof of residency)
- individual student and enrolment information
- read and submit individual declaration
Further documentation may be required according to the conditions of each the schemes:
- vehicle registration details and certificate
- Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) certificate for boarding and distance education students
- non-government/interstate school/institute proof of enrolment and attendance
- tax invoice/s or statement of boarding fees covering the claim period (for boarding students only)
- longitude and latitude, where your address cannot be located by the department
- employer information
- submission of declaration and other required documentation confirming circumstances declared on application remain unchanged at the end of the school year
- any other information the department deems necessary to appropriately assess your application for eligibility
After you apply
The Student Assistance team will be notified of your application, and begin assessment of your eligibility for the Student Assistance schemes.
Please allow up to 4 weeks for the team to contact you if further information or documentation is required to complete assessment.
Please be advised that incomplete applications, or failure to submit requested documentation or information before the closing date (30 June) may result in the discontinuation of your application for the 2025 school year.
