Prior to beginning your application, please review the Internet Subsidy Scheme procedures Financial help for isolated students | NT.GOV.AU to ensure you meet all eligibility criteria, in particular:

• applicant must be a resident of the Northern Territory (NT) and living in a remote area. Please refer categories 1 to 3 of Remote_Locality_Provisions_Determination.pdf (nt.gov.au)
• students must be enrolled in one of the three NT Distance Education Centres.
• students must be using personal household internet to access distance education.

Supporting documentation required for application:

• Evidence of NT residency – a copy of the most recent household internet plan that clearly states your contracted monthly Internet Plan amount and primary residential address.
• If primary residential address is not shown on the internet plan tax invoice, the following forms of evidence will be acceptable:
• current NT Driver’s Licence (must cover claim period)
• utility or services account
• current lease or rental document
• a screenshot from the Australian Electoral Commission’s check.aec.gov.au service

After you apply

The Student Assistance team will be notified of your application, and begin assessment of your eligibility for the Internet Subsidy Scheme.

Please allow up to 4 weeks for the team to contact you if further information or documentation is required to complete assessment.

Be advised that incomplete applications, or failure to submit requested documentation or information before the closing date (30 June) may result in the discontinuation of your application for the 2025 school year.

How to claim:

Payments will be made twice a year. To claim, the following supporting information must be submitted through GrantsNT at the end of Semester 1 (after 30 June) and at the end of Semester 2 (after the last day of Term 4 of each year) in each calendar year:

• most recent internet plan tax invoice
• a declaration form confirming details remain unchanged. ( form located in GrantsNT)
