We pride ourselves on responsible social, economic and environmental management and in 2009, Fremantle became WA's first carbon neutral city.
In September 2014, Fremantle became one of only two councils in Australia to achieve national One Planet certification for sustainability.
About this Tender:
The Waste Management Team is dedicated to maintaining Fremantle's City Centre, parks, reserves, natural areas and beaches by minimising and collecting waste. Our goal is to celebrate the essence of Fremantle by creating clean and tidy spaces that enable our diverse community to enjoy vibrant and active lifestyles. To support these efforts, the City of Fremantle requires a reliable Rear Loading Refuse Truck to assist in the upkeep of these vital areas.
These vehicle specifications have been designed to ensure suitability for the required tasks, durability, and compliance with operational needs.
This proposal outlines a design for a refuse truck capable of efficiently collecting waste from bins ranging in size from 120 Litre to 1100 litre MGB's. The design prioritizes safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. It incorporates advanced technologies and ergonomic features to optimize waste collection operations and minimize the environmental impact. The truck's robust construction and durable components ensure long-lasting performance and reliability. The driver's cab will be designed to minimize fatigue and optimize comfort.
In alignment with the City of Fremantle's commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint, the City is also seeking pricing for an alternative to the standard internal combustion engine (ICE) truck with equivalent specifications. This includes the provision of hybrid or fully electric models, hydrogen-powered vehicles and other relevant proven technologies, offering lower emissions and energy efficiency. While this option will be considered separately from the primary tender requirements, the City reserves the right to select and procure this alternative at its discretion, if deemed to better serve long-term operational goals and environmental objectives.
