Tender Description

The Town of Cambridge covers an area of 22 square kilometres, extending west from central Perth City to the Indian Ocean coast and has a population of approximately 26,000 (ABS ERP April 2009). The Town has well established residential and commercial areas, as well as significant areas of regional parks and reserves, including 4.5 kilometres of coastline. The Town of Cambridge is responsible for 14,000 street trees located within 313 streets with a total of 190 kilometres in length.

The Town developed the Urban Forest Strategy 2020-2023 with a vision “To ensure the sustainability of the Towns urban forest, to retain and strengthen the existing tree canopy within the Town through development of key strategies and actions”. This document defined the Towns urban forest benefits and challenges as well as its health, condition and trends. Data was captured through flyover image analysis to indicate these factors and determine trends and challenges for the sustainability of the Towns urban forest.

The Town has continued to collect flyover tree imagery and data annually canopy cover at various stratification levels as well as canopy health and individual public tree information.

The Urban Forest Strategy 2020-2023 has now expired and requires revision, based on current and future challenges and trends.
