The existing Millstream Substation is located approximately 60km south east of Karratha. It was built in 2004 and is at the intersection of the Dampier to Tom Price 220kV and Cape Lambert to Pannawanica 132kV power lines. Rio Tinto are proposing to connect into the network at this location a 75MWac Solar Farm (solar farm development by others).

Rio Tinto will provide fully engineered to IFC deliverables. In the Contractor scope is;

- Extension of 220kV Primary Mesh Bay - supply, install & commission overhead busbar, CT's, earth switches, disconnectors etc.. and field cabling

- Installation & commission of Company Supplied (delivered to site/contractor unload and place) 220/33kV 90/45MVA Power Transformers x 2No

- Supply, Install, Commission 33kV switch room

- Supply, Install, Commission 220kV control room

- Upgrade to existing 20yr old relay protection in existing control room. Supply, install, commission new protection panels

- LV & ELV EC&I install and commission

- All civil/structural works - substation pad (150mL x 50mW x 1mH) , transformer bunds, culverts/conduits, concrete footings, fencing, bulk/detail earthworks etc...

- Earthing and Lighting protection

- Commissioning (RT will have dedicated Commissioning engineers assisting & supporting)

Workforce will be accommodated in Karratha Sea Ripple Village or Peninsula Palms, Dampier. Contractor to provide 4WD transport to and from work site. (Note remote distance from Karratha.)

Please note - a tender pack will be issued out 19 Dec closing 12 March '25 (considering xmas/new year). Site visit end Jan/Early Feb..

This is a direct Company managed Project 'Rio Tinto/Main Contractor' - not EPCM.

Three suitably experienced Contractors will be shortlisted and invited to bid.
