Tender Description

In 2022, the Australian Government invested $121.3millon across five years, signing a bilateral agreement with the NSW Government for commissioning of Universal Aftercare Services. The bilateral agreement commits funding for Primary Health Networks (PHNs) to commission services providing universal access to aftercare services that support people following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.

SWSPHN currently commissions The Way Back service as the primary aftercare service in the region. The model of care of this service was originally developed by Beyond Blue to provide non-clinical support focused on providing practical psychosocial support to people who have attempted suicide or experiencing a suicidal crisis. SWSPHN is committed to ensuring Universal Aftercare will continue to offer assertive non-clinical aftercare following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. The model of care will be co-designed by the Service Provider to ensure it is fit for purpose to meet local needs and priorities. The Way Back model of care has been attached for reference only.

Through the co-design process and guidance from the Lived Experience of Suicide Service Guidelines: Aftercare (Attachment 5), the provider will develop and deliver a model of care that provides person-centred and trauma informed psychosocial support services for people following an attempted suicide or suicidal crisis.
