Following severe weather events in the Gisborne District over recent years, multiple drainage issues have been highlighted on the roading network that are preventing safe evacuation of residents and impacting economic development of the region. The Crown, via Crown Infrastructure Partners, have provided support in the way of capital funding to allow Gisborne District Council (GDC) to undertake improvements to their local roads' drainage network.

Roads: Mata Road, Ihungia Road, Tuakau Road, Waiomatatini Road.
