FreshStart New Home

Overview

FreshStart New Home Grant (FreshStart) provides a $30,000 grant to home buyers who sign a contract, or owner-builders who commence construction, for a new home or a new unit in the Territory between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025.

Only one grant is payable per transaction. Applicant(s) are ineligible if they have applied for or received a grant under the First Home Owner Grant Act 2000 (HomeGrown Territory Grant) for the home the subject of this application.

FreshStart is not means tested. There is no cap on the value of a new home or a new unit, or the total construction cost of a new home.

Approved applicants must occupy the property as their principal place of residence for a period of 12 months, commencing within 12 months of completion of construction or taking possession of the home.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Contract must be signed between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025.
2. At least one applicant is aged 18 years or older at the time of making the application.
3. At least one applicant is a permanent resident or Australian citizen at the time of making the application.
4. At least one applicant must occupy the property as their principal place of residence for a period of 12 months, commencing within 12 months of completion of construction or taking possession of the home.
