Tender Description
Tweed Shire is one of the most biodiverse regions in Australia and supports high numbers of threatened flora and fauna. Many of these species already are or have the potential to be impacted by vertebrate pest species.
There are multiple vertebrate pest species known to occur within the Tweed LGA. This includes, but is not limited to:
• European Red Fox
• Cat
• Wild dog
• Rabbit (Wild European and naturalised domestic)
• Hare
• Common myna
• Feral deer
• Cane toad
Council is responsible for around 4,500ha of bushland including Council owned Operational and Community Land and Council managed Crown land including the Tweed Coastal Crown Reserve. Council is committed to managing these areas as healthy ecosystems and prioritises funding for vertebrate pest management programs to help protect our threatened plants, animals and natural ecological communities.
