The proposed procurement activity is for a qualified and suitably experienced contractor to undertake works to the sub-alpine section of the Dead Horse Gap Walking Track in Kosciuszko National Park.
Project goals
The project goal is to upgrade works to the alpine (upper) sections of the DHG Walk have been occurring over the last four summers. The 5km, Grade 4 track passes through some of the highest, most exposed and fragile ecosystems in Australia and joins the Thredbo River Walk at Dead Horse Gap. The Walk experiences high visitation numbers throughout the summer period. These proposed works will ensure the lower sub-alpine section of the Walk is upgraded to the same high standard consistent with the recent upgrades to the alpine section. These works will include the installation of new stone and gravel walking surfaces, timber and stone steps, drainage infrastructure and elevated steel platforms as required.
Scope
Procurement scope
The Contractor must have the capacity to complete the following scope in compliance with the Principal’s specifications by the end of May 2025:
- Construction of approximately 200m of new rock paved track
- Construction of approximately 1,500m of new gravel walking track surface
- Construction of new stone and timber steps where required
- Reinstatement of existing steel and timber platforms
- Installation of drainage infrastructure as directed
- Logistic arrangements (aircraft operations) to deliver the materials. The NPWS will arrange for the aircraft.
