Bayswater Waves Pool Heating - Business Case for Renewable Energy Options
Tender ID: 565533
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Bayswater Waves aquatic centre (the “Facility”), located in Embleton, Western Australia, is owned and operated by the City of Bayswater. As one of the largest aquatic centres in the Perth metropolitan region, it features both indoor and outdoor heated pools as well as other amenities including a waterslide, gym, sauna, creche, café and function room. The Facility currently utilises a gas boiler for all of its pool water heating requirements, incorporating six bodies of water. Additional secondary heating to three bodies of water is provided as a byproduct of the centre’s HVAC Trane Chiller system.
The City is seeking to contract a suitably qualified and experienced consultant to deliver a high-level business case assessing alternatives to gas boilers for pool water heating that utilise renewable energy technologies.
Background information / Compatibility requirements
In August 2021, the City of Baywater's Council endorsed the Emissions Reduction and Renewable Energy (ERRE) Plan which sets out a roadmap for the Principal to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 including interim targets for 2025 and 2030. This roadmap includes actions for improvements in energy efficiency and electrification of pool water heating at the Facility, noting that the existing gas boiler accounts for over 90% of the Principal’s 14 TJ gas usage per annum.
