Project goals
To continue long-term monitoring of bushbird assemblages in Barmah-Millewa forest to assess their condition based on species richness and abundance.
Scope
20 bush bird monitoring sites within Murray Valley National Park and Barmah National Park will be surveyed over six rounds (two rounds each in spring and summer; one round each in autumn and winter) to measure bush bird abundance, species richness, and species composition. Survey methodology has remained consistent to allow comparison between years, though intensity of sampling has increased since 2020 from one to two survey rounds in spring and summer to improve scientific rigour. Milestones will include field surveys, data provision, and delivery of a scientific report.
