If you're a Northern Territory (NT) homeowner, business or a not-for-profit organisation, you can apply for a grant through the Home and Business Battery Scheme to buy and install batteries and inverters.

Homes and businesses are able to purchase a battery to fit their needs with a grant of $400 per kilowatt hour of battery system capacity, up to a maximum grant of $12,000.

Who can apply

You can apply if you're:

• a registered owner of a residential property in the NT
• a registered NT business
• a not-for-profit or community organisation operating in the NT in either owned or leased premises.

The property can be owner-occupied or used as an investment, but there can only be one application per homeowner.

 If you're a homeowner and also own a business, you can apply for one grant for your home and one for your business.

What can be funded

You can use the funding to:

• Install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system with an eligible battery and inverter
• Add an eligible battery and inverter to an existing solar PV system

Before you apply

To apply for the Home and Business Battery Scheme, follow these steps:

Step 1. Read the program terms and conditions.

Step 2. Obtain a quote from a qualified system installer.

Step 3. Prepare your supporting materials:

• Valid photo ID
• A valid quote

Business applicants may also need:

• Trust Deed (if your business is a Trust)
• A recent utility bill
• Written consent from the owner

Step 4. Complete your application by selecting Apply Now below

After you apply

Applications are assessed in the order they are received.

If your application is incomplete, it will take longer.

Eligible works must:

• only start after an application has been approved and
• must be completed within 6 months of the date the voucher was issued.
