Tender Description

The City of Bayswater ('the City') is a WA local government located approximately eight kilometres northeast of the Perth CBD. It includes the suburbs of Bayswater, Bedford, Embleton, Morley, Noranda, Maylands and parts of Mount Lawley, Dianella, Bassendean and Beechboro. The City has management responsibility for three constructed lakes in Maylands: Brickworks Lake, Lake Bungana and Lake Brealey.

The Maylands Peninsula Golf Course is located immediately to the west of the lakes.

Water quality issues at the Maylands Lakes have led to persistent algal (cyanobacteria) blooms and seasonal swarms of non-biting midge. A report on the restoration of Maylands Lakes was presented to the City's Ordinary Council Meeting held on 30 April 2024, and it was resolved as follows:

"That Council requests the Chief Executive Officer to call for expressions of interest for the use of pumps and filtration at the Maylands Lakes and provides a report back to Council on the outcomes."

Accordingly, this EOI document is seeking industry interest in providing a pumped filtration solution which could be delivered as a design, construct, commission delivery model or provided on a service/lease basis.. Documents relating to the bathymetry, water conditions and management history can be accessed at https://engage.bayswater.wa.gov.au/maylands-lakes

The City is currently undertaking a long-term Master Planning project for the Maylands Lakes, and while immediate deployment of the solution is preferred, proposals will also be considered that align to the longer-term masterplanning.
