Summary of the scope of work

The current water main system supplying the Nhulunbuy reservoir, passing through native land, faces challenges in replacement due to the difficult topography and the sensitivity of the land access permit. The existing inlet, bypass, and outlet lines, all more than 60 years old, have exceeded their design life, with recent leaks and valve dislodgment identified during the reservoir's condition assessment. Rio Tinto has commissioned External consultant to recommend a trench less approach for the rehabilitation of these aged pipelines, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact and reducing disruption to the sensitive area.

Several trenchless methods were considered for water line refurbishment. After careful evaluation, the Primus Line solution emerged as the most suitable for this particular location. The Primus Line is a flexible slip lining technique that involves the use of a Kevlar-reinforced liner, providing structural integrity without adhering to the host pipe

Works include but not limited to Supply and installation of Primus overland pipes, fittings and other associated works.
