Begonia Street and Malunna Road - Intersection Upgrade
Tender ID: 557809
Tender Details
Tender Description
Clarence City Council invites Tenders to undertake intersection upgrade works situated at the intersection of Begonia Street and Malunna Road, Lindisfarne 7015
Begonia Street is known to be used as a “rat-run” between Mornington and Lindisfarne, to avoid the Tasman Highway and East Derwent Highway. Begonia Street connects Flagstaff Gully Road and Malunna Road.
The northern end of Begonia Street (approximately 450m) is unsealed. Council has approved funding to sealing the northern section of Begonia Street due to the high ongoing costs of maintaining the unsealed section of road.
Local residents have a long history of requesting that Council protect the amenity of the area. There is a concern that this could increase traffic on Begonia Street, Malunna Road and Beach Road.
Consequently, an upgrade of the intersection of Begonia Street and Malunna Road, Lindisfarne was approved as part of Council Capital Works Program. The works proposed in this request for tender have been designed to improve the safety performance of the intersection by providing traffic calming measures and protecting roadside amenity.
