Accessibility review of Yourcareer website

⁠⁠⁠The Department (DEWR) seeks to engage experienced suppliers who have the capability to conduct a technical accessibility review and report of the Your Career website to ensure its content and structure is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and meets the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

Purpose

The accessibility audit of yourcareer.gov.au will help the department to ensure the Your Career website’s content and structure is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and meets the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

Context

The Your Career website (yourcareer.gov.au) provides individuals with comprehensive and accurate information, enabling them to explore career pathways and related job and study options based on their interests, skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Your Career has an important role in helping all Australians regardless of where they are in their career journey.

Yourcareer.gov.au is in scope for this audit comprising of an assessment of a selection of 10 - 15 page layouts, 20 sample documents and the career exploration tools found in the website.

The services we are requesting from the selected supplier include:

• A technical accessibility review of Your Career to identify conformance issues against WCAG 2.1 and other accessibility issues.
• A report of these reviews against WCAG 2.1.
• The provisions of recommended solutions and priorities for any failed criteria.

The Your Career website (yourcareer.gov.au) is built on a Drupal 10 CMS backend with a Vue.js Single Page Application (SPA) front end. The site is mostly content based with some interactive elements. It includes javascript-based tools, iframed content and entity driven occupation, VET course and registered training organisation provider data.

Key Deliverables

The deliverables of this engagement will be:

• Perform a technical accessibility review of the Your Career website for desktop and mobile compatibility to identify conformance issues against WCAG 2.1 and other accessibility issues, including:
• simulation of several user scenarios using a range of browser-based tools
• manual code inspection, and
• testing of the pages with assistive technologies to check for additional user-related accessibility issues.
• Report these reviews against WCAG 2.1 at level AA, identifying all areas of non Compliance.
• Provide recommended solutions and priorities for any failed criteria.
