The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals for FADs Maintenance Services for the regions between Bundaberg to the NSW Border.

Requirements for Services

The maintenance of the FADs in southern Queensland generally comprises of the deployment and retrieval of FADs off the Queensland coast in state and Australian waters, for the purpose of enhancing recreational and charter fishing in the region, plus some ancillary services and related reporting.

The Supplier is to provide these services in a competent, diligent, and professional manner and only during suitable conditions (sea conditions and visibility).

Depending on requirements these goods / services specifically include:

• Once per year, the retrieval of the FADs in each region. A total of 28 Surface FADs and one all-water FAD for all regions.
• Once per year, the deployment of new FADs in each region. A total of 28 new surface FADs and one all water FAD for all regions.
• For each region, throughout the year as required, the replacement of FAD lights and the attachment of external GPS trackers to the FAD buoys whilst deployed and retrieval and redeployment of FADs that drag the anchor or break free from their mooring and are drifting. The number of estimated days for each region for this service is 6 days for Gold Coast, 5 days for Brisbane, 7 days for Sunshine Coast, 3 days for K’gari and 1 day for Bundaberg. The Supplier is to provide a day rate for each region offered based on the estimated days.

The Supplier may provide an offer on one or more regions.

The FADs are split into the following regions:

1. Gold Coast – FADs 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 12B, 12C, 13 and 14
2. Brisbane – FADs 4, 5, 6, 15, 16 and 17
3. Sunshine Coast – FADs 7, 7B, 7C, 8, 9, 10, 18, 19, 20 and 21
4. K’gari – FAD F1, F2 and F3
5. Bundaberg – FAD B1a-d
