Tender Description

The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals for RDMW0581 - Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan (QEJP) Wind and Solar Balance of Plant Products.

This project is funded as a part of the Queensland Energy and Plan (QEJP). The QEJP outlines a number of key renewables targets and actions, to deliver clean, reliable and affordable energy for Queenslanders and includes:

  • a new renewable energy target of 70% by 2032 and 80% by 2035.
  • a commitment to progress two new pumped hydro projects by 2035—Borumba and Pioneer-Burdekin.
  • a pathway to build the new Queensland Super Grid, which will connect our solar, wind, battery and hydrogen projects across the state and unlock new capacity and storage.
  • a commitment to convert all of Queensland’s publicly owned coal-fired power stations into clean energy hubs by 2035, backed by a Job Security Guarantee for workers.
  • substantial investment across the state, with 95% of clean energy infrastructure investment anticipated to be in regional Queensland.

The QEJP outlines how renewable targets will be met with Queensland’s SuperGrid—all elements in the electricity system, including the poles, wires, solar, wind and storage that will provide Queenslanders with clean, reliable, and affordable power.

This project focusses on ensuring government agency procurement can identify and access Queensland manufacturers that supply wind and solar balance of plant products to support delivery of the QEJP.

For the purpose of this procurement project, balance of plant is a term used to refer to products which support production of wind and solar energy. Examples include: civil works, cabling, footings, concrete, switchboards, transformers, information systems, electrical, geotechnical, project management, and mechanical maintenance products
