Tender Description

Lithgow City Council is seeking Submissions from appropriately qualified and experienced Tenderers to undertake the following works:

• Installation of a programmed light scaping system to illuminate the blast furnace ruins.

• Installation of bollard lighting along pathways

• Associated electrical works as detailed in the tender specifications.

A more detailed brief of the extent of services required by Council is set out in Volume 3 – the Specification of this Tender document.

In recent years Council has undertaken major upgrades of the Lithgow Blast Furnace site – the location of the first modern iron smelting works in Australia. These works have included viewing platforms, elevated walkways, landscaping and carpark upgrades.

Council commissioned Point of View (Now FireFly Point of View) lighting designers to develop a lighting concept design for the site. Stage 1 of the design was installed in 2017/18 and included wayfinding and safety lighting including bollard lights, handrail lights and carpark lighting.

Stage 2 lighting works, which form this tender 05/24, involve installation of a programmed light scaping system that will illuminate and create light shows of the blast furnace ruins for local people and visitors and installation of the remaining bollard wayfinding lights.

Lithgow Blast Furnace is a state listed heritage site and works are to be undertaken in accordance with the Section 60 Heritage approval for the works. All excavation for trenches and the fixing of light fittings will be as directed by Council's appointed Heritage Advisor and Excavation Director, at Council's cost. The Heritage Advisor /Excavation Director is Lithgow based therefore inspections can generally be arranged at short notice.

Contractors responding to this brief should note that under Council’s Purchasing Procedure, local suppliers will be given up to a 2.5% price concession up to a maximum of $6,250 GST inclusive
