Key problem/s

DFAT requires information to understand the feasibility of modular uninterrupted power supply (UPS) capability. Requirements are as follows:

Minimum specification

  • 150-265Vac@50/60Hz ±10%.
  • 95-140Vac@50/60Hz ±10%.
  • 3kVA – modular

          -1kVA modular inverters

          -Modular smart controller

          -Modular Battery Packs

  • 30-minute runtime @100% - Can be reduced depended on current load capacity.
  • Network capabilities.
  • Server based Software
  • Repairable by untrained personnel.
  • Light weight modules.

Further details are provided in the attached RFI and Response Form.

The users and their needs

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) currently utilise individual UPS units to protect hardware such as computers, data centres, telecommunication equipment or other electrical equipment. UPS units back up critical services and other devices that are key to business continuity locally and globally.

The current UPS configuration employed across DFAT posts worldwide are individual conventional UPS units. DFAT requires salient information to support the proposition to change the current conventional UPS to a modular UPS system. Moving to a modular UPS System reduces unexpected UPS equipment loss to ensure mission critical networks downtime and data loss is mitigated, provide repairability from un-trained personnel and evidence minimising the total cost of ownership of UPS systems.
