Tender Description

New Zealand (NZ) hosts several feral animal species that are susceptible to exotic livestock diseases such as foot and mouth disease (FMD) and African swine fever (ASF). Feral populations of deer, pigs, goats, sheep, and cattle are present in New Zealand. Feral animal populations pose a risk as disease reservoirs for domestic stock, and recognizing the role of these populations in disease transmission and maintenance in an outbreak, will be crucial to any response and subsequent demonstration of area freedom.

This project is to collate data, produce models, including maps to identify high risk areas and properties for feral-domestic animal interactions based on farm attributes, property locations, feral animal distributions and/or densities, and climate.
