The Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade (DITT) is seeking to engage a highly experienced consultant to provide expert advice on the electricity supply industry workforce architecture required to enable an efficient and effective transition to, and delivery of, the Territory’s power system of the future.
The successful consultant is expected to have a thorough knowledge of the current national and international electricity/energy market issues and expected future developments and be able to draw from this existing expertise to describe differences between current and future electricity markets. It is not expected that the successful consultant would need to expend extensive resources acquiring background knowledge of current electricity markets or contemporary market issues.
The primary objectives are as follows:
· To establish the current skills and capability gaps of the Northern Territory’s electricity supply industry workforce impacting the transition to renewables.
· To understand the likely future skills and capability required to meet the Northern Territory’s electricity supply industry workforce over the next ten (10) years.
To provide the Government and the Government Owned Corporations (Jacana Energy, Power and Water Corporation, and Territory Generation) with appropriate recommendations to plan for and implement suitable workforce capacity and capability policy and strategies for the Northern Territory’s electricity supply industry.
