Council is inviting tenders from Contractors to construct a section of the path on Wine Country Drive near the Fletcher Street intersection. Wine Country Drive is a State Road and the Contractor must have (R2 or B1) prequalification status with TfNSW for this construction project. A section of the proposed path is located on a bridge sized culvert and traffic barriers and handrails must be constructed to TfNSW bridge standards.

The scope of works for the construction project includes all works necessary to construct concrete path, F type concrete barrier, W beam guard fence and balustrade handrails. The extent of construction includes all works between chainages 3875 and 4000 on the construction drawings.

Council is constructing a shared path to connect Bridges Hill Park in Cessnock to Wine Country Drive at Lomas Lane. The purpose of the path is to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents in Cessnock by encouraging pedestrian and cycling activity along the path. The path provides connectivity to schools, a hall, active and passive park areas, and an off-leash dog park. The length of the path project is 5.3km. To date, 3km of the path route has been constructed.
