The Australian National University's Residential Experience Division (RED) has overall management of 12 distinct student accommodation buildings on the Acton, ACT campus. Each of these buildings has its own laundry, with commercial washing machines and dryers managed via a variety of operating models.

Ursula Hall (UH) is one of the original student residences on the University's campus and consists of two (2) wings Main Wing (MW) the original heritage building, and Laurus Wing (LW) the newer wing which is made entirely of repurposed shipping containers and predominantly caters to Post Graduate residents.

UH, MW and LW have three (3) laundry rooms. Two in LW and one in MW. Over both the Wings UH has 16 commercial dryers and 15 commercial washing machines. Six dryers and six washing machines are owned by the University outright. The remaining 10 dryers and nine washing machines have been leased from a commercial supplier since November 2019. This contract expired in November 2023.

The University and laundry supplier have been operating on a month to month arrangement. The University is seeking to enter into a new arrangement with a Supplier for the provision of 19 new washing machines and dryers for a five (5) year period under a leasing, installation, and servicing agreement. As part of this arrangement; the new Supplier will propose options for the remaining 12 machines owned by the University, to either; continue their use and service the machines on the University's behalf, replace the machines under a buy back scheme ,or, recommend their disposal.
