City Parklands invites you to submit a price as Principal Contractor for the supply and/or co-ordination of all trades, labour, plant and materials to deliver the removal and replacement as new for all bearers, timber joists and decking on Fern Tree Gully Bridge at Roma Street Parklands

The broad objectives of these works are:

1. Enhancement of safety for existing assets.

2. Remove and replace structural sub structure to further extend the service life of the asset

3. Improve substructure longevity with the inclusion of joist weather strips to mitigate water ingress and dry‐rot due to the accumulation of debris.

The Scope of Works to include:

- Replacement of decking planks

- Replacement of floor joists

- All decking timber to be replaced will be required to be predrilled to prevent splitting

- All cleat plates on the bearer to be rust treated and painted with a galvanized coating. If significant corrosion is present on inspection, replacement cleats will be required to be welded on.

- Install joist weather strips to increase longevity by providing weathering protection

- Inspection of all bolts at timber cross bracing to ensure they are properly tightened.

- Column Base plates to be inspected and treated where corrosion is present.

- Safely managed closure of Fern Tree Gully Bridge and pedestrian pathways below whilst works are carried out

- Marking plan developed to better document remediation carried out Fern Tree Gully Bridge

- In‐progress photos taken to better document works carried out

- Structural engineering certification of works
