Tender Description

Stretching from Palm Beach to Manly, the Northern Beaches boasts more than half of all the beaches in Sydney and a population of more than 266,000. The Council is committed to maintaining a high level of customer service to the local community.

Northern Beaches Council is working closely with the community to build strategies that enhance our quality of life, promote sustainable development and protect our environment.

SERVICE REQUIRED:

Northern Beaches Council (Council) invites tenders for the carrying out and completion of major works for Brick Pit Reserve Upgrade.

The purpose of this project is to provide an open space for local residents, hospital staff and patients and the broader Northern Beaches Community. Rehabilitate and enhance indigenous vegetation, to assist the regeneration of local flora and fauna and to provide landscape features that celebrate and interpret the Frenchs Forest area site history.

The scope of works includes but is not limited to:

- Demolition of five (5) existing picnic settings, including concrete slabs, fencing, concrete path kerb and gutter, road surface as required and coppers log around existing street tree in Bantry Bay Road.

- Removal of twenty-four (24) trees including nine (9) trees impacted by the proposed works, with a further fifteen (15) weed, dead or collapsed specimens recommended for removal independent to the proposed development and the retention and protection of eighty six (86) trees in line with the arborist report.

- Construction of an acoustic barrier wall along Warringah Road (to match existing).

- Construction of a play area with embankment play in the north-west corner of the site.

- Construction of the public amenities building.

- Provision of open lawn passive recreation across western side of the site.

- Provision of new canopy trees and installation of WSUD stormwater garden along western edge of the site.

- Construction of 2.5m wide shared path with brick edging along western edge of the site.

- Construction/ installation of a 1.8m wide accessible FRP boardwalk around the central waterbody, including two (2) viewing decks and stabilised decomposed granite resting area, and links to Bantry Bay Road and Fitzpatrick Avenue East.

- Civil works, including raised pedestrian crossing, kerbs and gutters and kerb islands, linemarking and upgrades to existing parking along Bantry Bay Road.

- Provision and installation of park shelter, furniture, bins, seating, drinking fountain.

- Replacement of existing stormwater pipes and headwall.

- Additional plantings/ landscape embellishment works across the site, including bioswale along Bantry Bay Road.

- 12 month maintenance period of all landscaping elements.

- 12 month defect liability period.

SITE BRIEFING:

A Site briefing will be held on 16 January 2024 at 10am. Respondents should ensure they review all documents and understand the scope of work before attending the briefing.

LODGEMENT:

Submissions should be lodged in the electronic tender box or in the physical tender box at Northern Beaches Council, Civic Centre, 725 Pittwater Road, Dee Why, NSW 2099 by the time and date nominated. Late submissions may not be accepted.
