Construction of the Orange Adventure Playground Upgrade
Tender ID: 546461
Tender Details
Tender Description
The existing Orange Adventure Playground was completed in 2002 in what was a paddock in the north of Orange adjacent to the Botanic Gardens. At that time, the residential developments north of the site had not commenced, so it sat on the outskirts of town, around 3km from the city center. The creation of the original playground was driven by the local community who designed, funded and delivered the play space with assistance from Orange City Council.
Since then it has become a draw-card for locals and visitors alike and holds a special place in the hearts of locals. Being constructed of timber, the playground has begun to show signs of deterioration after 20 years of use and an upgrade is required. The wider community has been consulted to achieve a play facility that meets expectation, needs and is visionary for the future.
The brief for the upgrade of the playground is as follows;
- Provide a new inclusive, imaginative, challenging and coordinated play experience for the children, young people and carers of the Central NSW Region in line with NSW Department of Planning's Everyone Can Play Guideline.
- Create inspiring play spaces that will excite, challenge and stimulate the children's imagination for their self-development.
- Provide a safe environment for children, families and carers to meet and socialize
- Establish an accessible facility not only for play but for recreation, learning and time-out for people of all ages and abilities.
- Develop an intergenerational community asset.
A new splash play zone will be included in this project and be constructed at Orange Adventure Playground. It will be free and open to all community members. The splash play zone will be a welcomed addition to Orange during the warmer months.
Note that there will be an update to document 231211 (Drawings) on 20/12/23 to be issued as an addendum.
