Tender Description

The Works are associated with the reinforcement of the Airport Feeder line, located in Karratha, Western Australia. The Airport Feeder line is a 33kV circuit off Dampier Substation on the Burrup Peninsular. The line was originally commissioned in the mid-1970s and comprises of both overhead and underground systems. The overhead element making up the first four kilometres of the circuit and running through a significant heritage area presents access challenges during fault events and maintenance. This feeder line has an average annual load of 1.4MW to major customers such as waste management companies, a quarry, radio towers, street and traffic lights and the Karratha International Airport.

The purpose of the Works is to install new Network Assets, including underground HV and LV, cables, modular substations, switchgear, transformers, and service pillars in accordance with approved designs and with the requirements of the Schedules as well as dismantling and removal of existing Network Assets.

As part of these Works, approximately 67 poles and associated 4 kms of overhead conductors will be removed. The steel poles and any associated reinforcing steel must be extracted in their entirety.

The Works will comprise the provision and all supervision, labour, materials not specifically listed, and equipment, waste management, accommodation, messing and including the management of quality, safety, environment and traffic control deemed necessary for the safe and efficient execution of the Works under the Contract.
