Port Augusta City Council invites tenders from Tenderers for the provision of design and construction of a section of Depot Creek Road, Port Augusta, in the current financial year 2023/2024.

The Tenderer shall provide the Services in accordance with the Specification contained within the Tender documentation.

Port Augusta City Council wishes to design and construct a section of Depot Creek Road. Depot Creek Road, Port Augusta, which commences at the intersection with Racecourse Road then east to the Bungala Solar Farm and then further north providing a link to the mid-north part of the state.

This project is to design and construct a 950 metre section of Depot Creek Road starting from 750 metres west of Winton Road to 200 metres east of Winton Road. Construction would consist (preliminary) of 300mm of select fill, 300mm pavement gravel to raise it above the floodwater levels and suitable to take road train trucks. The strength of the road is not adequate because there is no or little gravel (gravel applied is for safety rather than strength) on this section. The road overall is of adequate alignment.

It has never been built but the native soils scraped and reshaped as required to maintain access, with minimal gravel or ‘metal’ applied when required to make passable. This road once adequately constructed will work to mitigate localised flooding and create a suitable alternative route for light and heavy vehicles.

The survey, design and construction of Depot Creek Road is to be in accordance with the Specifications contained within Section D. Works are to be scheduled to start February 2024 and completed no later than 31 May 2024.

Council will enter into a Works Agreement with the successful respondent.
