This tender is for the restoration of surfaces with turf or hydro mulch within Hunter Water's Area of Operations for a period of 4 years with 3 x 2 year extension options available.

In addition to its water treatment and wastewater treatment infrastructure, Hunter Water operates and maintains a water distribution and wastewater transportation system within the Local Government Areas of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Cessnock, Maitland, Dungog and parts of Singleton. Many of these assets are located in public open spaces (i.e. parkland, reserves, unpaved footpaths in residential/commercial/industrial areas, median strips, laneways, etc) as well as in private property (residential including front and back yards, commercial and industrial).

Disturbance to grassed surfaces can occur in a number of ways, and all areas of disturbance are to be restored where requested on a job by job basis. The manner in which disturbance to grassed surfaces can occur include:

- Uncontrolled escape of water from a ruptured water main or sewer rising main at the location of the break and downslope where the water has flowed

- Controlled release of water from a standpipe or scour valve on a water main or a scour valve/overflow on a reservoir

- During excavation to repair a failed asset, including a water main, sewer main, valve, hydrant, manhole, etc.

- By the operation of plant and equipment compressing and tearing the surface causing ruts and divots.
