Tender Description
Penrith City Council (PCC) is seeking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Civil Works Contractor for Nepean Ave shared path design and construct project, in Penrith LGA.
Council is building a new pedestrian pathway, with an average width of 2.6 metres, along the western side of Nepean Avenue between Tench Reserve and Memorial Avenue.
This project will deliver the missing link on the Great River Walk by completing the Bridge-to-Bridge loop and address current safety issues by eliminating the need for pedestrians to walk on the road.
Project outcomes:
- Maximize width of usable path by pedestrians
- Surface treatment to visually and physically blend with drainage gutter to maximize width of usable path by pedestrians
- Attractive and well-designed finishes
- Attractive and well-constructed finishes
- Attractive, comfortable, legible, and cohesive project which ties in with the existing character of the street and broader bridge-to-bridge walk.
- Broadly align with the concept taken to the community and adopted by council
- Improve drainage where opportunities exist
- Maximize comfort of pedestrians and users of the path including but not limited to the consideration of the crossfall of pathway, shade, sight lines, space, safety, amenity, and lighting.
- Address items in safety audit
- Achieve an outcome which caters for all users of Nepean Avenue in alignment with Traffic Audit recommendations and Transport for NSW guidelines.
- Shade trees are retained and protected during construction and considered in the design
- Works are delivered within agreed timeline and budget
- Construction of pathway is staged to ensure the safe and continued usability of the street by all users.
- Alignment with all standards, guides, laws, and best practice applicable to the design and associated works.
