NPDC are seeking Expressions of Interest from suppliers willing to collaborate with the Council in overseeing the construction of civil and structural components according to detailed design specifications for the Destination Play project. NPDC are working within a set budget and a specific timeframe dictating the completion of the civil works by September 2024. These civil and structural works serve as the foundational groundwork for the designated play area, constituting a distinct phase of construction. Upon completion, this phase will pave the way for various playground suppliers to install play equipment. It's crucial to note that the civil and structural contractor will not assume responsibility for the subsequent installation of play equipment; this aspect will be managed by NPDC through separate contracts with specialist subcontractors, arranged post the completion of civil and structural works.

The current Kawaroa play space has been serving the community for the last two decades and is nearing the end of its life. The Destination Play initiative endeavours to surpass the memorable experiences offered by the existing play space. To create a Destination Play space, a transformative process is required to evolve the recreational space into an area that is captivating and engaging for all ages and abilities. The vision for Kawaroa is to not only provide a fantastic recreation experience but also serve as an educational resource for both present and future generations.
