The Contract period will be for an initial period of two (2) years, with options for Hunter Water to extend the Contract for 2x1 years, at its sole discretion, based on performance over the contracted period.

Project Background

Hunter Water is a self-determining authority for the purposes of administering works under Division 5.1 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act). Hunter Water routinely prepares environmental impact assessments including Review of Environmental Factors (REFs) to consider the impacts of proposed activities, as required by the EP&A Act.

Hunter Water also has obligations under the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and Biosecurity Act 2015 to assess impacts to threatened species and ecological communities and to manage the biosecurity risks of its activities and operations. Additionally, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) requires referral to the Australian Government for proposed actions that have the potential to significantly impact on matters of national environmental significance or the environment of Commonwealth land.

Many of Hunter Water's construction, maintenance and operational works are substantial undertakings that have potential impacts on flora and fauna. All of Hunter Water's works need to be carefully managed to avoid impacts occurring, or where such impacts are unavoidable, they must be undertaken in accordance with mitigation measures outlined within the approvals for the project.

To ensure that works undertaken by Hunter Water meet these requirements we are seeking to establish a panel of preferred suppliers to provide ecological support services for up to a four (4) years period
