This project is to construct a Pathway around the Hauranga Pa headland in the Weld Rd reserve in alignment with a Council resolution in June 2021. The purpose of the Pathway is to provide an alternative route for members of the public between the Weld Rd and Ahu Ahu Rd reserves, rather than going over

the Pa site, which has now been fenced off to prevent further damage to the site. It also forms an all-weather route as part of the coastal walkway which commences at Oakura, and currently continues to Timaru Rd. The Pathway will connect to a new bridge which is being constructed (as a separate project) over the adjacent Whenuariki Stream.
